Juan Alonso at the Alonso Family Vineyard – Agua Dulce, CA
Juan Alonso, owner and head chef of the renowned French Restaurant, Le Chene for almost 40 years, began operating Alonso Family Vineyard in 1995.
Against the advice of many who thought the region was unsuitable for a high quality vineyard, Juan has persevered and continued to grow the fine reputation of Alonso Family Vineyard and gone on to produce award winning wine ever since.
Through a partnership with Jasper Dickson, of Angeleno Wine Company, Alonso Family Vineyard has broadened its reach and is bringing ever more award winning wines to a wider audience.
As Jasper says, “There are no words to articulate the stunning beauty of the vineyard in the early morning during harvest. It is still cold enough to see your breath and you need to wear gloves, even though it’s summer. Juan is the heart and soul of Angeleno. We consider him Angeleno’s real winemaker, as the character of his vineyard is what shines through in our wines.”

Great food wonderful wine lots to choose from, good service and the parking lot very close 100 ft from front door. But if you don't want to wait make a reservation in advance, great vibe and mood for a date .don't forget to order lobster very tender and real butter I had 2 tales my self exactly what I hoped it would be very good ..... I have been going there for over 20yrs an it keeps getting better

Classic place with classic French dishes. A huge wine menu, a full bar, and an espresso machine. What more could I ask for?
Oh yeah, how about friendly bartenders and great customer service? Theu have that too. We also met the owner and his wife. Very nice people.
We will be going back whenever we are in the area.

My truck caught on fire on the Sierra Highway and I had no phone service. It was afterhours and the restaurant was closed but I went behind and asked for help and the owners son and employees all ran out like true heroes and helped me extinguish the fire.
I offered to give them money but they refused. They did it out of kindness and good will. I asked them for a business card and they gave me one to their restaurant.
I asked how the food was and they said that it was the best around. I knew I could believe them because they just stopped a catastrophe without charge.
So the next day I was hungry and I wanted to try this best food around and I went there and the service is just as excellent as the heroes.
The owner is warm and inviting. For the quality of restaurant the prices are even quite reasonable. I would recommend this place to anyone.
It might be slightly higher than most are used to but the prices aren't far from Red Lobster. You only live once so I would recommend living a little and experience the finest.

5 different dishes, all excellent (pricing of each dish around $35). Wine was very good. Parker (server) was well informed and very attentive. A really nice overall experience. Will definitely return!

Le Chene is as good as it ever was! As a frequent patron many years ago, I was thrilled to go back to my old stomping grounds and see that the food is just as good as I remember it. And the ambience is lovely. I can't say enough good things about Le Chene. It is worth the drive to have an exceptional meal in a wonderful setting.

This place can be hit or miss for me. Love the selection of dishes available. Our meals this time were excellent except for the crabcake appetizer. Too bready. But, the Tongue Vinaigrette, Cream of Vegetable Soup, Veal Chop with Morrells, Shrimp Escoffier, Boar Goulash, Grand Marnier Souffle and Peach Melba were so wonderful this time!

What a gem this place is! Juan, the owner is on the premises watching over everything. There is a nice wine list from wine that he produces. The food is gorgeous. The restaurant is beautiful. The grounds are picturesque.
I can't say enough good things about this place. Happy hour is from 4:30 to 7:30. And during that time everything is 20% off. It's out in the midst of the wine and horse country but it is worth the Trek to enjoy this lovely place.

The BEST happy hour / bar menu, and 25% off during happy hour. Sunday brunch, Eggs le Chene, to die for. We also had the stuffed mushrooms with warm bread to dip in the hot garlic butter. Enjoyed a bottle of Jaun's Red.

My husband and I live in Santa Clarita and this is the place we go to celebrate special occasions. La Chene has a fun, unique menu, and we enjoy getting something different each time. The flavors are rich and well balanced. Savory is the best word to describe the food at this restaurant. They are pricier than average, but you do get what you pay for!!

If I lived closer, I'd be here every week!!! This place is a hidden gem out in (kinda) the middle of nowhere. The food is absolutely delicious, and you really feel like you're in another world when you're there. Great, attentive service, easy parking, solid wine list, full bar. I have the good fortune to get to play music for the Sharpo's Murder Mystery Dinners and always enjoy the evening easily as much as the guests at the show. Highly recommend!

Pleasantly surprised by this oasis in the desert. Happy Hour specials drew us in and kept us almost three hours with a variety of dishes. The French onion soup and creme brulee we're the definitive highlights of our meal.
What was the pinnacle of our experience was the warmth of the decor, staff, and patrons. Not a hint of snobbery to be found only kind smiles and quality wine.
We look forward to our next visit.

This place is an authentic family style French restaurant. With everything from great wine, appetizers, cocktails, entrees or desserts. There is something for everyone. Including a garden, two banquet rooms and a balcony where you can dine and smoke. It truly is a destination restaurant that makes you feel like you are getting off the highway and stepping into France! Tremendous!!!

The location is beautiful. The food and service were impeccable. The views made me feel like I was in a French countryside. The portions are large enough to share salads and entrees. Don't skip the dessert. The homemade ice cream was wonderful. I got mine served with homemade chocolate sauce. It reminded me of grandma's chocolate icing while it was still warm. This is my aunt's favorite place and now it will be one of mine.

Very nice clean the staff was courteous and attentive but it is not cheap restaurant, most of the meals are in the 50 to $30 range. The meal was very tasty well present dated and a large portions. This evaluated will be going back, but not right away. This is our anniversary dinner and it was at the end with the chip $450 and some pennies.

Amazing always. Weve been here many times. Parker & the runners always have every detail buttoned up...almost to the point of obsessively great service. We started with the baked brie & soft shell crab - both delicious and perfect compliment to the French bread. The brie really should be on that show "Best thing I ever ate.".
We always get the Tannat - a great recommendation by Parker.
I had the rib eye & lobster and my wife, the white sea bass. The portions were quite significant, which doesn't really fit a french restaurant; however the quality of their meats & seafood and decadent flavors represent french cuisine well.
Even the souffle was amazing & timed perfectly.

This is one of my FAVORITE restaurants. I drive all the way from Long Beach to enjoy their amazing food. The prices are so fair. The wine list is INCREDIBLE. Where else can you get a Bison RibEye, elk and boar....I brought a friend with me for the first time yesterday for brunch and he was blown away....Yesterday we had mushrooms, ravioli, bison and elk....AMAZING!!!

This is one of the very few restaurants where attention to detail still means something. The staff go above and beyond to make sure that every guest is satisfied. There is a reason that people travel the distance to eat here, it was a 90 minute drive for me to get there but well worth the trip. If you are looking for a unique dining experience I would STRONGLY recommend Le Chène.

Great place. Love to go here for escargot or the shrimp appetizers. Soup of the day was cabbage and very good. Have had many plates here and always very good. The drinks are what you would expect from an establishment like this. Further more, join Reyes Winery membership down the street and get 15% off on food here, what a great deal.

For the awesome country french food hidden on Sierra Highway between Santa Clarita/Palmdale is a menu written in a Chalk Board. Come taste basic french essential food choices. Dip your bread in the sauces. Pick a pricey wine from their wine cellar, made back in your favorite year of youth. Command it to your table.
Get married here creekside in a lovey french grotto. Or for a most memorable celebration.

Hidden gem on an old highway. Drove past this little restaurant and came back hours later when it was open. The old rock front building hides a little paradise. Beautiful inside opens to a patio and garden area used for weddings. It is expensive, has a huge wine selection and great food. Will be going back.

If anyone is interested in nostalgia then this restaurant was called Chuck's Cafe back in 1971 for the movie Duel directed by a young Steven Spielberg. The late Dennis Weaver got into a bit of a fight in there. After all this time the outside still looks similar.

My wife and I decided to celebrate our anniversary here. We were very shocked. This place is very deceptive from the outside..a lot more room than you can see from the street! Nice, atmosphere and good ambiance. The meals were spectacular! My wife had the Atlantic sea bass, and I went with the buffalo steak. Absolutely delicious! We also had dessert, which was hard to select, because everything sounded wonderful. If you want a lovely meal, in a wonderful, semi-secluded area; I recommend coming here! We were very pleased with the staff, meal, everything.

Have loved this restaurant for 30 years. GREAT FOOD, nice atmosphere and nice staff. I consider this the best French restaurant. Its considered country French so its different than what most people think of as a French restaurant. You have to try it to understand.

We were seated right away with our reservation despite the fact we were late. Had to drive over an hour. The servers were timely and consistent. Food was delicious as well as the champagne for our brunch. We skipped dessert as the meal was very rich and filling. Would have preferred to be either outside or in another dining room than the bland front entrance room. All in all it was excellent.

This place is on Sierra highway it is small but very delicious. The atmosphere is very tranquil the owner is amazingly nice and recommended our dinner which was delicious! I visited for my birthday And everything Jose (owner) recommended was delicious, thank you for the great experience. If you eat outside I believe It's better because you're outside enjoying fresh air, the seating area is nice and there's a nice little pond you can hear the frogs. If you want to take a little walk while you wait for your food It's also nice.

I met a friend for a post-COVID reunion on Sunday. We enjoyed an unlimited champagne brunch. The restaurant was uncrowded and the service was excellent with a friendly server that was very attentive to our needs. The food was of course wonderful. We enjoyed catching up after nearly two years and the easy going atmosphere added another level to the experience.

My family and I love this restaurant. The food is great and you can taste the quality of the ingredients used. We have been eating here for a couple of years and every meal we have had has been excellent, but over the weekend we were extra impressed by the service. The server, whose name is Joshua, was super great. As he walked by we would ask for coffee which he would get quickly and he even ran after someone who forgot their food. Joshua was really nice and super helpful. I highly recommend eating here. The food, service, and area is great!

There is a reason why this restaurant has been in business for so long even though it's a distance from civilization. It's simply excellent. Delicious French cuisine in a building that's reminiscent of a French countryside castle. This is the first place that I tried Escargots and now I understand why the French eat snails. Everything here is excellent; you can count on it!

The five stars are a given, but to top that are the specials they run including their great weekend brunch. A recent St Patrick’s Special made for a wonderful evening and some Great Corned Beef and Cabbage, a Guinness and Entertainment. Almost makes you bagpipes. They had their special meals plus their full regular menu, which is extraordinary. The bar is beyond fully stocked. A great place to meet your desert friends half way.

Have had lunch there twice. It’s out of the way for me but worth the trip! The atmosphere is so warm and appealing that We have decided to plan our wedding there!

Charming and pretty much perfect. In my opinion, this is the only great restaurant in Santa Clarita. Of course, there are other good restaurants, but to me nowhere else is really special. Le Chene has it all, a professional and welcoming staff, a beautiful and serene setting, a full bar, a good wine list and wonderful food. It's a bit of drive into the canyon and driving back after a leisurely early dinner here among the oaks , it feels like i just had a vacation in the countryside.

The drive up to this place is very cool, I had a chance to check out their website before going and got a quick history briefing on this place and it's definitely cool to see it. The food was amazing and the drinks were really great also. It's a bit on the expensive side but it's an experience. The appetizers were fantastic ( mushrooms, and ravioli) and the entrées were really nice as well.

Always a great place for a good meal. Been going there for more than 20 years and they never disappoint. We make our parents anniversary an annual special night out here. Just celebrated their 61st.

This is our absolute favorite French restaurant by far. Quaint, classy and tucked away, they serve country style french cuisine, which translates to larger portions than usual for a french restaurant and you can taste the love in their delectable dishes. Simply exquisite. It's also one of the most romantic restaurants we've been to and the service is excellent.

This is my favorite place to eat. My husband and I come here every year for our anniversary and our birthdays if we can. I order the same thing every time because it's the only place that serves it. My husband tries something new, and it never disappoints him. Everything they make is fabulous, and I am not exaggerating. If you want some great food with great service, alone or with your family and friends, this place has it all. I give it 100 stars because they are just that good.

My wife and I took my brother-in-law and his wife here for their anniversary, and it was a fantastic experience. We started with happy hour drinks in the bar, which were great, and then moved to the dining room. For the Hor d’hoerves we had the Stuffed Mushrooms and the Brie which were both great choices. For my entree I had the Sand Dabs which were also amazing. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their food and the overall experience. I would highly recommend La Chene for a special evening out.

First time having authentic French food. It was very good. I had frog legs and they were very tasty. We also tried the rabbit, which had the texture of pulled pork, also very delicious. Would recommend as a nice date place when you're in the mood for something different.

the food was great and very delicious, the only thing i did not like is the waitress that served us, we were about 15 people, she forgot to put the order in for one of the guests, also she put my ordered dinner plate in front of the other guest even though she had just asked who has what. she has no smile on her face, i was more polite and was thanking her and had a smile on my face..than her. I don't think she enjoys what she is doing, you can tell she is not a happy person. otherwise i strongly recommend this place.

The food is amazing and be aware pretty big portions. I cant wait to come back and try more stuff. The bad part for me is their huge menu, makes it very hard for me to make a decision. The restaurant it self has very unique layout.

Delicious food. Writing this review the awesome flavor of their rack of lamb is tickling in my brain. Not the best visual presentation on the plate, not the fanciest decor, but oh yeah the food is solid. The servers have this down to earth bro feeling which is pretty cool. Totally recommend.

We visited Le Chene on a Saturday afternoon. Unfortunately, it wasn't open yet, but Juan Alonso, the owner, saw us looking at the property and offered to show us around. We've posted a few photos of the premises. As others have said, the back yard is absolutely beautiful.
The property is surrounded by vineyards where Juan is growing grapes for some of the delicious wines he makes. We tried and it's wonderful!
This is one of the most serene and peaceful locations I've visited in the Santa Clarita Valley. You can actually imagine yourself in a restaurant in Europe! Juan has owned Le Chene for nearly four decades and it's truly a destination. He is a fascinating individual in his own right. Now we have to plan a return trip to dine and see what everyone is raving about.

Service was great. Shrimp appetizer was very tasty as well as the salad and soup...ordered ribeye for main corse, it was cooked correctly but lacked the flavor i was expecting. Desert was amazing, ordered the chocolate souffle...definitely will go back to sample some of the other menu items.

Great restaurant, service and decor (open and light with outside deck and garden), but needs attention in a few areas: long list of cocktails but pretty much all vodka based. Nothing making use of all the great aperitifs and spirits of France! The list of red wine by the glass was only 5, most made by the owner. I tried the Tannat which was admittedly good but more French options would have been nice. On the other hand the food menu was enormous which was a concern though what we had was very nice, though the morels in the sweetbread dish were not very evident. And the vegetables were perfectly prepared and cooked.

Lovely Thanksgiving meal with friends and family. Got the goose special. Goose was nice and moist. Everyone enjoyed the food. Seating was prompt. And our waiter fondly renamed to Jeff was a joy.

The dining room is small but there is created privacy with a good use of room dividers and drapes. There was no blaring music and the acoustics were excellent: Voices did NOT carry and we were able to enjoy ourselves.
The service and food were outstanding and abundant! We had two servers tending to our needs and took home a large doggie bag.
We had the sampler plate ( for two) since we have never had Ethiopian food before. There was a nice pickled cabbage dish, some white cheese, salad, a hard boiled egg, corn and numerous meat offerings.
We'll definitely be back.

Food was great and I mean really, really good. Drinks were expensive and weak. For $16 a drink I expect to feel something after two large drinks. I’m a total lightweight and normally two drinks would have me very buzzed, my husband and daughter had 3 and also no buzz. Spent over $100 on drinks for zero buzz for anyone. Will go back for the food, but not the drinks.

We have visited this restaurant a few times.
The location is perfect. The patio is stunning. Specially at sunset. You don't see it but the sun rays coming through the trees is beautiful.
The food is always great but may be I bit overprice.

I've been here at least 6 times. The wait staff is friendly. The food is pricey. On my latest visit the sauce on my veal shank was too salty and seemed out of balance with the rest of the plate. The broccoli puree was too salty as well, but the baby carrots were perfect. However, baby carrots should not exist on an upscale French cuisine plate. The veal itself was tender and flavorful, thank goodness. I ordered cream of cauliflower soup which was outstanding. I may think twice about coming back because the chef must be getting old tastebuds if he thinks the food is balanced for an experienced palate.

I got carded (26) sitting at a table of 40+ year olds, and they tried to serve us warm champagne. My family has been coming here for years, my mother waitressed here, but it's really gone downhill lately.

Came for my first time to this restaurant on Mother's Day with a party of 12 people. The outside is pretty, but the interior requires updates. The server was unprofessional and it took forever to get our meals. I had ordered a soup for my entree and didn't receive it until everyone one else was almost finished with their meals. The server never checked on us to see how we were or if we needed anything. For the high price of the meals, I expect excellent quality service, however, I was very disappointed.

We've eaten here before and enjoyed the fare. Last night was a disappointment. The orange duck sauce was uninspired, thick and coarse. The duck wasn't cooked in the sauce, the sauce was just ladled on after the duck was plated. Meh. Bottom line, the orange sauce detracted from instead of complimenting the meat.
The dining room was uncrowded, but they chose to seat us right next to another table with, unfortunately, a motor-mouth.
The good: Service was great, which saved the evening. Portions are generous. Soup and salad were both delicious, as was the chocolate souffle!

The service is nice and pleasant. Food on the other hand could have been better. Lamb chops was delivered but all the seafood entrees we ordered were terrible. Recommend going for anything else other than their seafood.

Really shakey service... a waiter spilled plate juice on me staining my slacks and shirt. Water glass was empty a few times. Food was good, but massive portions, and VERY rich. Very diverse menu with small town fine dining ambience.

We had a great New Years Eve dinner. The only reason I didn’t give it a 5 star is because of how the food is plated. They should really switch out all the blue plates. They are very cheap looking!!
Also the food was slapped on the plates without any food presentation. My chicken in wine sauce looked terrible but it was good.
Our will for two with one glass of wine each was $365 including tip and tax
