A brief history of Alonso Family Vineyards
Out of desire to relive his childhood, Juan planted 50 grapevines in 1995 against the advice of people who thought they knew better. Every year thereafter, he kept planting more. Perhaps he started the wine rush in Agua Dulce area! The vineyards are located in the vicinity Le Chene Restaurant and along Sierra Highway next to the Sierra Pelona Motel.
We grow grenache, sirah, tempranillo, cabernet sauvignon, merlot, alvarino and many other varietals. You can enjoy the wines here at Le Chene.
The weather in Mint Canyon is warm during the day but at night we still have a breeze coming up through the canyon where it creates a difference in temperatures. Today, our 6 plus acres right here in Santa Clarita are doing well.

Juan Alonso, the owner of this gem of a restaurant welcomed me with open arms, showing me old still photos from the restaurant scenes to the original locations from the counter to the pool table
My wife and I will be dining at LeChene in a couple of weeks. I’ll show her part of the road trip I took and hoping to stay at the small motel a stones throw from the restaurant.
Cannot wait to introduce Kris to Juan and, of course an amazing meal. 2112% recommendation to dine at this “bucket lister” restaurant.
